Advanced Technology We Use

Medical Ozone Therapy | Functional Electrical Stimulation | Localized C02 Cryotherapy

At Topline Animal Services and Rehab, we combine hands on structural work with advanced rehabilitation technologies to support healing, restore movement, and improve long term soundness. Each therapy is selected based on the individual horse's condition and integrated into a customized rehab plan.

Many horses benefit from combining multiple rehab technologies and techniques in the same session, and these therapies are always paired with targeted bodywork and rehab exercises to restore proper movement patterns.

Moreover, not every therapy is appropriate for every horse. Each rehab program is tailored to the horse's condition, stage of healing, and long term goals.

Ozone

What is Ozone Therapy?

A safe, non-invasive way of using medical grade ozone to address a plethora of issues that we would see in everyday  or extended rehab cases. Instead of injections, Ozone is applied in ways such as ozonated oils/creams, topical applications (limb bagging), or rectal suffusion to target areas of need.

(VETERINARY APPROVAL IS REQUIRED FOR ANY OZONE SUPPLEMENTATION OTHER THAN LIMB BAGGING AND CREAMS)

What do we use it for?

>Musculoskeletal/Performance: Arthritis/joint discomfort, tendon/ligament injuries, Back soreness/muscle fatigue, recovery, post-surgical

>Neurological/Metabolic: EPM, Neuropathy, PPID/Cushings/IR/PSSM

>Hoof/skin: Abcesses, Thrush/white line, laminitis support, wound healing, skin infections/rain rot/allergies/hot spots

>Immune & systemic wellness: General immune support, Allergies/inflammatory conditions, Respiratory issues/COPD/heaves etc, Gut health and detoxification support

Equinew FES

FES System

The Equinew FES system (Functional Electrical Stimulation is a specialized tool designed to support rehab and performance in horses. Unlike a standard TENS unit that simply blocks pain signals, the FES system works by stimulating muscle contractions, helping to retrain neuromuscular pathways, improve circulation, maintain muscle tone, and encourage correct movement patterns. This is a therapy used to complement bodywork and rehab programs, promoting more effective recovery and long term soundness. VETERINARY APPROVAL IS REQUIRED FOR THIS THERAPY.

What do we use it for?

>Neurological conditions: EPM, wobblers, nerve injuries where retraining muscle firing patterns is important

>Muscle atrophy: Injuries, stall rest, uneven use

>Post -Injury rehab: to support correct movement and strengthening

>Back and topline development

>Gait reeducation

>Circulation and recovery

Localized C02 Cryotherapy

What is cryotherapy?

Localized C02 cryotherapy is a targeted cold therapy that uses pressurized carbon dioxide to rapidly cool the surface of the skin for a short period of time. This quick cooling helps reduce inflammation, decrease pain signals, and stimulate sensory receptors in the skin that influence the nervous system and muscle response. Unlike traditional icing methods, cryotherapy's subzero temperatures force the blood away from the area and back towards the organs. When the area starts to normalize in temperature, the now nutrient and oxygen dense blood returns to the affected area.

What do we use it for?

>management of: pain and inflammation

>Supports recovery from injury or strenuous activity

>Tendon/ligament inflammation, joint swelling, localized muscle soreness, chronic discomfort

>Helps calm protective muscle guarding before bodywork or rehab exercises

>May be incorporated alongside other modalities such as FEs or hands on therapy to support improved treatment outcomes.
